The Greensboro (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was founded on October 22, 1955, by twelve dedicated women who sought to strengthen their friendships while engaging in meaningful community service during the Civil Rights Movement. Since its founding, the chapter has grown from twelve members to sixty-four, as of 2025. Our members remain steadfastly committed to the national organization’s core values of friendship and service.

The Links, Incorporated, established in 1946, is an international, nonprofit organization consisting of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent in 299 chapters across 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. Its members are devoted to serving their communities—collectively contributing more than one million service hours each year. The organization is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service groups committed to enriching and sustaining the cultural and economic well-being of people of African ancestry. The Links, Incorporated has a long and proud history of leadership in education, civic, and intercultural engagement.

Over the past seventy years, the Greensboro (NC) Chapter has built a lasting legacy of service and partnership with local and regional institutions. Our chapter has proudly collaborated with organizations such as Guilford County Schools, Cone Health, Greensboro Urban Ministry (including The Pathway Center), Bennett College, North Carolina A&T State University, Winston-Salem State University, the Junior League of Greensboro, Hayes-Taylor YMCA, and the Shirley T. Frye YWCA. We have also supported the international initiatives of The Links, Incorporated, including Linkages to Life.

As members of the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, we advocate for and support programs such as Closing the Gap on Foster Care, Artists Noir, Connecting the Threads, One Mission One Love, LINKS in Pink, HeartLinks, Healthy Homestead, and the HBCU Initiative.

For the 2025–2026 biennium, our theme is “Elevating Our Impact: Making a Difference Together.” Guided by this vision, we will continue to build upon our rich legacy—working to transform our communities through strategic, impactful, and meaningful programming.

Sincerely,

Teresa H. Vincent
